On this post, I was previously torn between choosing DSLR and mirrorless, until I finally made up my mind and choose mirrorless instead. It is way lighter and will be much more suitable for me to carry around. In the end, I was choosing Samsung NX3000 because I won’t have to dig deep into my wallet for this one and also, several convincing reviews that I read about its image result.
To be honest, the NX300 – also from Samsung – was my first choice. But there are several things that stop me from buying it. First, it is actually more expensive compared to Nikon D3300 or NX3000. Performance and stats-wise, the NX300 best its younger brother, the NX3000. But it also cost almost twice of it! I’d rather get myself Nikon D3300 or Sony mirrorless with that money!
Second, by the time I was deciding to get myself a brand new camera, the NX300 was already out in the market for two years while the NX3000 is more recent (2014). It will still perform as good as it should, I know, however, I’ve read some rumors on the web about Samsung preparing to launch NX500 as replacement for NX300. Samsung is major company which produced almost everything with chips inside it, and based on my previous experiences with their products (I owned several gadgets with their name on it), mostly Samsung provide supports for only 4-5 years before they move on to their newest models and totally neglected the old one. So yeah, I don’t want own NX300 which can only updated once or twice before the support discontinued.
The third reason of why I choose NX3000 over NX300 is that eventhough the Samsung NX300 equipped with articulated touch screen, the NX3000 has its pros of fully tilt up screen usable for taking selfies. Okay, I admit that I don’t normally take selfies as I’m a bit camera shy, so it wouldn’t be much use for me. But considering the fact that I’m completely new in photography, I reckon if I can not use my camera to its fully power then I might aswell take selfies with it, right? 😉
Well there you go. Three reasons why I prefer Samsung NX3000 mirrorless camera over the other options. Already bought one online and now anxiously waiting for it to arrive!0
